High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Yogacharya Govindan Nair was an Indian yogi. He was born in 1908 at Kuttippuzha near Aluva in Ernakulam District of Kerala, India. He obtained an M.D. in homeopathy. He joined the Reuters as an editorial assistant in 1937. He came back to India in 1942 following the Japanese invasion of Burma. He continued with Reuters at their Bombay and Delhi offices before joining the Press Trust of India(PTI) as a reporter. Coming back to his homeland Kerala, he worked in the Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kottayam offices of the PTI. He worked as editor and later as manager with the PTI. He retired from service in 1966. He died on September 7, 2001. Govindan Nair learned his first lessons in Yoga from a sage he met on the banks of the Aluva river in circa 1917. He conducted courses on Yoga and Prakriti Chikitsa for over fifty years.
