He was raised in the barrio of Tres Puntos, Humacao, Puerto Rico. Before becoming a professional artist, he used to work as a handyman on Puerto Rico's Palmas del Mar Beach. Yomo was born Jose Alberto Torres on June 17, 1980 in Chicago.He was raised in Humacao, Puerto Rico.Yomo spent half of his live living in a small town in New York called Amsterdam. He is the youngest of three kids. Yomo is the father of 4 kids of three different women.The mother of his first child cannot be mentioned. His first wife was Gloria and mother of his second child Jovan Alberto who was born on July 28, 1998. His second wife was Jainel Ayala and mother of his two youngest kids Mia Nikole (born on April 21, 2006) and Ayan Alberto (born on April 4, 2007). Yomo dedicated his whole CD "My Destiny" to his ex-wife Jainel which now lives in Miami, Florida.
