Yoshiaki Hoshi also known as Himekami after the musical group he founded, was a Japanese musician, born in Wakayanagi (now Kurihara), Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. Hoshi won the 1971 Victor Electronic Music Contest, and founded Himekami Sensation in 1980. His debut album was Oku no Hosomichi, released in 1981. In 1984, the group name was changed to Himekami. Hoshi was known for being very friendly with his fans, and thanking them for purchasing his works. Himekami was the project of Japanese musician Yoshiaki Hoshi, sometimes accompanied by other musicians. Hoshi first came into prominence in 1971, winning the Victor Electronic Music contest. He started his musical project in 1980 and named it Himekami Sensation. However, in 1984 "Sensation" was dropped from the name and it became simply "Himekami". The music was basically Electronic New-Age with sounds of nature and elements of traditional Japanese music. Yoshiaki Hoshi died of a heart attack in 2004.
