High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! "You Don't Mess Around with Jim" is a 1972 single by Jim Croce from his album of the same name. American hard rock band Poison covered this song on the 20th anniversary remaster of their album, Look What the Cat Dragged In. The lyrics tell a similar story to that told in Croce's hit single "Bad Bad Leroy Brown," of a local tough guy who eventually gets his comeuppance, although in this song, the tough is a pool hustler. The song "You Don't Mess Around with Jim" has been covered by Poison on Look What the Cat Dragged In, Ty Herndon on What Mattered Most, Josh Turner on Long Black Train, and by Donna Fargo on My Second Album. On an episode of the ABC drama Eli Stone, Victor Garber performed this song in one of Eli's visions. Weird Al Yankovic's 2009 album Internet Leaks parodied this song on the track "CNR."
