High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! "You Know What to Do" was one of the first songs written and recorded by George Harrison with The Beatles. It was recorded on 3 June 1964 (see 1964 in music) and does not appear on any album except 1995's Anthology 1 release (see 1995 in music). The day it was recorded, Ringo had fallen ill and wasn't able to make the session. As The Beatles were set to leave for a world tour the following morning, the original session booked for that day was cancelled so that a replacement drummer, Jimmie Nicol, could be brought in and rehearse with the band. After running through a number of songs, everyone felt satisfied with Nicol's drumming, so for the remainder of the session, each of the three present Beatles recorded a demo of a newly written song. George recorded "You Know What to Do", John did "No Reply", which eventually ended up as the opening track off their next album Beatles for Sale, and Paul did "It's For You", a song which was written specifically for Cilla Black to sing.
