The song reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1986. The song is about a man tempted to have an affair with another woman (some lyrics may suggest a former lover) while his girlfriend is away, hence the opening lyrics: "Josie's on a vacation far away, come around and talk it over. So many things that I wanna say, you know I like my girls a little bit older. I just wanna use your love tonight, I don't wanna lose your love tonight..." The song has been covered by ska/punk band Less than Jake on the Goodbye Blue and White album, the band The Rescues on their album "Crazy Ever After" (2008), and by the pop/punk band Midtown. It has also been covered by Wyclef Jean featuring Eve as a reggae mix on the soundtrack to Adam Sandler's 50 First Dates. Another cover of this song exists by German euro-trance group Topmodelz, released in 2007.
