Yousif Benham Habash (1 July 1951-) is the current Syrian Catholic Eparch of Our Lady of Deliverance of Newark since his appointment by Pope Benedict XVI on 12 April 2010. He fills the vacancy created when Ephrem Joseph Younan was elected Patriarch of Antioch and all the East of the Syrians. Habdash was previously pastor of the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Los Angeles. Habash was born in Qaraqosh, Iraq in 1951. He entered St. John's Seminary, in Mosul in 1965, and in 1970, entered military service. In 1972, he resumed seminary studies at Charfet, Lebanon, when the Mosul seminary closed. He was ordained a priest on 31 August 1975 after which time he worked in youth ministry. He later served as vicar and then pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, in Basra.
