However, in 1965 the Nassau County School Board made the decision to shut down YHS, and students within the Yulee attendance zone began attending Fernandina Beach High School, in nearby Fernandina Beach, Florida. However, with rapid growth in the Yulee area starting in the mid-1990s, new high school was needed and the school board voted to construct an all-new YHS. The initial graduating class of Yulee High School, in 2007, had a 71% graduation rate. 23% of the graduates graduated with honors.
