Yuval Banai (Hebrew: , born June 9, 1962) is an Israeli singer whom has been the lead singer of one of Israel's most influential pop rock band Mashina, and son of Yossi Banai. Yuval was born on June 9, 1962 in Tel-Aviv to Yossi and Ilana Banai. He was one of the more prominent members of a family celebrated for producing several famous performers and musicians: his uncles Gavri, Ya'akov and Haim are actors, his cousins Ehud, Uri, Me'ir, Eviatar, Eviatar, and Orna are musicians, singers and actors. He served in the Artillery Corps for the Israel Defense Forces, and took part in the Lebanon War. During his army service he met guitar player Shlomi Braha and the two started playing music together. After the army service the two split up, and Banai formed the band "Shlom Ha-Tzibur" ("Public Safety").
