He founded and is currently the lead singer and guitarist for the rock band The Fairwell. He is also the former bassist and current lead guitarist for the hard rock band Shinedown.He has stated that, whilst growing up, his main guitar influences were Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, Adam Duritz, Bono, Phil Lyonett and Damon Johson. His first guitar was a Series 10 - Strat.Myers is said to be a collector of vintage musical equipment, currently owning up to One Hundred and Twenty Nine Guitars of various makes. He is an avid cook.
