Written by Sandro Sigala and later maintained by Reuben Thomas, Zile's goal is to be similar to GNU Emacs but with a very small size. In the tradition of recursive acronyms, Zile stands for Zile is lossy Emacs. Zile is distinguished by a very small RAM Memory footprint, of approximately 100kB, and it fits comfortably on a floppy disk. It is 8-bit clean, allowing it to be used on any sort of file.
