As Carlos V he was the first of the Carlist claimants to the throne of Spain. He is often referred to simply as `Don Carlos`, but should not be confused with Carlos, son of King Philip II of Spain, after whom Verdi`s opera is named.

Osage was originally organized in 1855 as Weller County, and was renamed in 1859 after the Osage River that runs through it.

The Daily Flash were an American folk rock and psychedelic band founded in 1965 and active for about three years, originally based in Seattle and later in Los Angeles. The group was composed of guitarist/singer Steve Lalor, lead guitarist Doug Hastings, bass player/singer Don MacAllister and drummer Jon Keliehor. According to Mike Stax, they "had become a major force in the growing Seattle underground scene by 1965." Their sound, which incorporated elements of folk music and jazz as well as rock stood in contrast to the garage rock sound typical of the Pacific Northwest at the time, anticipating the sound that came to be identified with San Francisco.

Several Soviet OMON assaults on Lithuanian border posts occurred in 1991, after Lithuania declared its independence from the Soviet Union on March 11, 1990. As a Soviet republic, the Lithuanian SSR did not have a state border with customs or checkpoints. The newly declared Republic of Lithuania began establishing the State Border Guard Service, which also became a symbol of its strive for independence. The Soviet government viewed the customs posts as illegal and sent the OMON (Special Purpose Police Unit) troops against the posts, especially those along the eastern border with Belarus.
