The main river of the region is the Traun, a tributary of the Danube. The name Salzkammergut means "Estate of the Salt Chamber" and derives from the Imperial Salt Chamber, the authority charged with running the precious salt mines in the Habsburg empire.

His 1968 novel Stand on Zanzibar, about an overpopulated world, won the 1968 Hugo Award for best science fiction novel. It also won the BSFA award the same year. The first match between these two sides was played at the Ennio Tardini Stadium (Parma`s home stadium) and it ended in a 1–0 victory for the home team. The following leg was then played at the San Siro in Milan with this encounter ending in a 1–1 draw for the home side. This was also AC Parma`s very first UEFA cup final victory, with Juventus having won several in the past.
