Mark "Bez" Berry would later join the band onstage during a live performance after befriending Shaun Ryder and served as a dealer. This was a significant accomplishment, as he came to the U.S. in 1949 at age 21, having survived the Nazi Holocaust as the sole survivor of his family (except for three scattered cousins), without money or knowledge of the English language.
