USS Brisk (PG-89)

HMS Flax (K284), a modified Flower class corvette, was laid down on 28 February 1942 at Kingston, Ontario, Canada, by War Supplies Ltd., for the Royal Navy. Launched on 15 June 1942 it was reallocated to the United States under the so-called "Reverse Lend-Lease" program and renamed and redesignated Brisk (PG-89) on 14 August 1942. Completed on 5 December 1942, the ship was commissioned on 6 December 1942, Lt. Norman B. Denel, USNR, in command.

They are sponsored by Parry`s International Travel, and have signed a new deal with owner Dave Parry (previous speedway rider for the Wolverhampton Wolves) for the 2008 season onwards. The team is managed by Peter Adams and the promoter of the club is Chris Van Straaten. They were the Sky Sports Elite League Champions in 2002. The Wolverhmapton Wolves regained the Champion status in the 2009 season, beating the Swindon Robins 95-90 on aggregate in the 2009 play-offs.

His name Panagoda came as he was jailed in Panagoda Cantonment in the outskirts of Colombo, whence he made an audacious escape. He attempted to blow up an Air Lanka aircraft in 1984.
